David L. Kowalk, M.D.

     Dr. David Kowalk completed his undergraduate education at Albion College in Michigan in 1987 with a B.A. in biology.  He graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1991.  Dr. Kowalk completed a one-year general surgery internship at the University of Virginia Health Sciences Center in 1992.  He then completed an orthopaedic research fellowship and his orthopaedic surgery residency also at the University of Virginia.  Dr. Kowalk completed an orthopaedic sports medicine fellowship in 1998 at the New England Baptist Hospital in Boston, which included conservative and operative treatment of orthopaedic sports injuries, as well as game and training room coverage of high school, university and professional teams.  He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.  Dr. Kowalk specializes in sports medicine, arthroscopic surgery, and ligament reconstruction.  His practice also includes joint replacement, fracture care and general orthopaedics.
